Christmas Treat Giveaway Hop #ChristmasTreats

What are our favorite Christmas Treats? Books, of course!
Stop by each blog for a chance to win fabulous books & gifties for the Holidays!

It's nearly that time of year again. The jolly fat man will be here soon, calling everyone Ho, Ho, Ho's and entering houses without chimney's by osmosis. It's also time to give away stuff on the blog as part of the Christmas Treat Giveaway Hop.

More about the giveaway later, or at the end of the blog, actually. :)

So, as part of the hop, we've been asked to talk about the books we'd like to get for Christmas or the series/author who's our favorite treat to read.

For me they are the same thing. I love reading paranormal romance, because I can escape to a world I wish was true. Vampires, Lycan and Shifters, oh my!

My fav authors in the genre are the usual suspects. J.R. Ward and her Black Dagger Brotherhood, Gena Showalter and her Lords of the Underworld, Kresley Cole and her Immortals after Dark and lastly, but in no ways least, Christine Feehan and her Dark (Carpathian) Series.

I still have books to read on both kindle and in paperback from all the above authors. So instead of getting more books for Christmas, I've decided I'd like more TIME (please, Santa) to read the books I have waiting on my list. If I get that, then the only choice I'll have to make will be which one do I start with.

What about you? Would you like more books (and which ones would you like) or more time to read the ones you already have?

Giveaway:

So, here's the giveaway. Sign up to my mailing list (the form is on the top right of the blog page) and go in the draw for a copy of Secret Desire. The first book in my Hot in the City, contemporary romance, series.  If you are already on the mailing list, don't panic,  you're automatically included in the draw. The winner will be drawn Christmas day. Good Luck everyone and don't forget to visit the other blogs for more great prizes.

Win a copy of Secret Desire

To celebrate the release of Secret Desire I'm giving away a copy of the ebook. To enter the comp, all you have to do is sign up to receive my newsletter.  Easy :)

The competition runs from midnight on the 10th of October until midnight on the 19th October. Here's a little teaser of what you'll receive if you end up being the lucky winner.

What’s your Secret Desire?

When Jake Munroe moves into his new apartment he has no idea the woman of his dreams is literally right next door. She’s beautiful, sexy, and frustratingly elusive. Finding the right time to make his move seems like it will never come, until she walks through the doors of his nightclub.

Sally isn’t looking for a new relationship but when Jake appears in her life, she grabs the opportunity to partake in some sexual healing. Her ex-husband left her convinced she could never sexually excite or satisfy a man, but those rule don’t seem to apply to Jake. He wants her—at least for now.

Desire rules us all and Jake's desire for Sally is unequalled to anything he’s experienced before. He wants her in his life and is determined to have her, no matter what it takes. When he thinks he's finally made Sally his own, he discovers a horrible truth. Sally has kept their relationship hidden from everyone she knows and Jake refuses to be anyone’s secret plaything.

Excerpt

Something icy cold pressed against Sally’s arm and she felt another chill run through her. She raised her head and stared at the large glass of water in front of her.
“You’re probably dehydrated. You hardly stopped dancing all night.” The deep, smooth voice washed over her, causing her body to begin to heat once more.
Sally turned her head toward the warmth and when she finally managed to focus her eyes, she wanted to moan in ecstasy. If there really was a God then he had truly out done himself. The man smiling down at her was perfection. He sat on the bar stool next to her, leaning against the wall. His hair was dark, almost black and hung just below his broad shoulders in long tantalizing waves. It sat brushed back from his face at the front, except for one stray curly strand that had worked its way loose to kiss up against his cheekbone.
His eyes were dark like his hair and conveyed the same warmth as his voice. His lips were thick and lush, ideal for kissing. As her gaze roamed down his body, she was taken by the hard chest and abs that were defined under his tight T-shirt, his legs were a lengthy example of perfection, muscular thighs under dark denim, and a bulge—Sally snapped her eyes back to his face and hoped she wasn’t blushing.
“Drink.” He leaned forward and spoke softly into her ear.
Oh, how could a man smell so divine? She had never smelt a man like him before. Sally’s pussy started to tingle, as he watched her bring the glass to her lips, and take a refreshing drink. She inhaled deeply. Accents of cinnamon and spice tantalized her nostrils. Talk about olfactory heaven.
“I just thought I’d sit here while I waited for my friends.” Sally had no idea why she felt the need to explain her presence to him and couldn’t understand why he looked at her with a wry smile as she spoke.
“I think they’ve left.” He gestured toward the dance floor.
“Oh God, I fell asleep didn’t I?” Sally was horrified once she realized the house lights were on and the dance floor empty. In fact the whole club was empty except for a few bar staff who were cleaning up.
“We cleared everyone out and closed the club about forty minutes ago.” He was smiling at her as he spoke. “You looked so peaceful I thought I’d let you sleep until I was ready to leave.”
Sally gasped when his body brushed against hers as he bent forward, a blaze of heat stroking her body where he touched. She noticed how his gaze roamed along her stockinged legs as he bent to pick up her shoes. As he returned to an upright position, his lips brushed against her leg and he planted a kiss on the lace that sat mid-thigh. She wanted to move, to push her wayward hemline back in place. Instead she just stared at the heated point where his lips had been, feeling the warmth spread upward toward her quickly moistening pussy.
“Nice stockings.” He stated as he took her hand and assisted her in stepping down from the stool. Sally wasn’t sure how she did it, but she managed to pull the hem of her dress back into position as he led her through a door and down a hallway to the club’s back entrance.

About the Author

Writing a bio that lets readers know who you are is tricky at times because I describe myself in so many ways. Like my books, I fall into different genres, all of which depend on my mood and inspiration at the time. I am a writer, a submissive, an orphan, a widow, a sister, an aunt, a friend, and sometimes, a wild child.

I live in Australia and writing is my passion, although finding the time to do it on a consistent basis is always a challenge for me. Life sends you curve balls when least expected them and I’ve had my fair share over the last few of years.

My writing currently falls under a variety of genres including BDSM, contemporary romance, and romantic suspense but who knows where my literary future will lead. That’s going to be the next exciting chapter of my life.

More information about what I’m up to, and general nonsense, is available by checking out my online hangouts.

Siren Authors Holiday Hop

I'm so glad to be part of this Holiday Hop and sharing the stage with some excellent authors, both new and well established with Siren Publishing. I've been published with Siren since 2011 and the giveaway I have as part of this blog is a copy of my first book, Finding Angel. There are another two books in the Wylde Shore series, but I thought it best to giveaway a copy of book one, just to whet the winners appetite for the other two...hopefully.

                                                                                                            Prizes and participating Authors
When I received my first edits for Finding Angel I quickly found out that authors often overuse words and one of my overused words was and. I spent days reworking sentences to try and get rid of any that were unnecessary and was it a task? You bet. I hated the word by the end of edits. I try not to use it excessively anymore and I think that's been reflected in the subsequent books. But why am I telling you this? It's simple really. In order to enter the major prize draw you need to visit each participating authors blog (the list can be found by clicking the words prizes and participating authors above the sexy holiday hop image) and put together a secret code. In order to achieve this each author was give a code word to include in their blog post.

Imagine my surprise when the code words were handed out. Some authors have wonderfully expressive words (I won't tell you any of them because that would be cheating) but I got the word I hate.  I actually laughed out loud when I read it. Have you guessed what it is yet. I bet you have but for those still wondering scroll down for the answer.

As I mentioned earlier I'm giving away a copy of Finding Angel as part of the hop. Just leave a comment on this post, maybe tell me a word that you have bad memories of, and I'll use random.org to pick a winner the day after the Hop concludes. Good luck and don't forget to enter the major prize draw.

For those that haven't already guessed, my secret code word for the competition is word number 17... AND

So enter now, you'll find the entry form by clicking here and then all you have to do is visit each blog and complete the answer. Good luck everyone.

Fall into Romance Hop - The Darkest Craving

I'm so excited to be part of the Fall Into Romance Hop organised by The Romance Reviews (TRR) they're a great site for all your romance needs. As part of the hop, which runs for the next week participants have been asked to showcase a book and tell everyone why they love it. I found it hard to decide because I love to read and have so many favorites. While pursuing the book shelf trying to decide who to showcase, one book jumped out at me, for a few reason which I'll explain.

So without further adieu, the book I'm showcasing is The Darkest Craving by Gena Showalter.

I spent months anticipating this books release and as the time drew nearer I found myself obsessing about getting it as soon as it hit the shelves. I'm a fan of the Lord of the Underworld Series, naturally, but for some reason Kane's story was the one I waited for breathlessly. For those of you who have no idea what this series is about, here's the Jan Graham abridged version.

A group of sexy-smexy immortals (Lords) do something stupid and end up becoming the human prisons for some demons. Each main character in the series has a specific demon housed within them. Both human and god-types alike see the Lords as a threat, wanting each one of them and their demons dead. The sexy to the max Lords, run around trying to find and destroy Pandora's box (where the demons originally came from) have lots of exciting adventures, find their mates and fall in love in the process. Got it...good ☺

So back to The Darkest Craving, I loved this book so much because Kane (sexy Lord that the books about) houses the demon of disaster. He's in the other books but all you really hear about him is he causes disasters which sometimes impacts adversely on himself and the other Lords. He struggles with this issue and had often been portrayed as, lets face it, really depressed about his demon and the role he played in the gangs mission. I had no idea how Gena was going to write the story without the world ending, luckily she did and it was superb.

My favorite aspect of the book was the way Kane overcame the self-sabotaging role of the demon inside him. I found myself cheering him on as he resisted the urge, not always successfully, to prevent his demon from stuffing everything up. The inner battle for dominance over disaster rang true in so many ways for me personally. Yes, we all have inner demons (metaphorically speaking) and mine just happens to readily cause disaster if I don't think carefully about what I'm doing and the choices I make. Although I don't call them disasters I like to think of them as monumental f**k-ups. Kane also has a few of those in the book, but like anyone battling a demon, he learns from his mistakes, figures things out and forges on to his well deserved happy ending.

It hadn't ever occurred to me that I enjoy this series so much because of the battling your inner demon scenarios the books involve. Yes, call me slow witted if you must, it took a while for the light to dawn. I have Kane and my own demon of disaster to thank for the revelation. Another aspect of the story I really liked was the way the author showed Kane that even though he may think he's not that special, other people int eh book didn't view him that way. The Fae (who play a large role the story because of the female protagonist) worship him, they didn't see the demon of disaster as a hindrance like Kane does, they see the strengths in Kane as a whole person and focused on the positives, not the negatives. Hmm, perhaps another lesson for me there.

Josephina is the woman (or Fae) that Kane falls for, she's a force to be reckoned with and like a lot of us, has family issues. I really liked her character, she was strong, knew what she wanted in life (most of the time) and was a good match for Kane. I recognized a lot of me in her as well which just added tot he personal revelation factor in my enjoyment of the story as a whole.

Like all Lord of the Underworld books, Gena Showalter has included cameo's from a lot her other underworld characters, the continued story line of the Lords quest for Pandora's box has some really enlightening insights for future stories and the character interactions involve a good balance of suspense and humor, all things I've come to love about the series.

I've included the blurb from the book below so you can all check it out and perhaps buy the book to read. My suggestion would be read the whole series but it's totally up to you. I can guarantee if you love losing yourself in other worlds or hot paranormal romances, you won't be disappointed. Thanks for another great read Gena Showalter.

Guest Author - Matthew Stillman

Today I'd like to welcome Matthew Stillman to the blog as my special guest author. He's appearing here as part of a blog tour promoting his new book, Genesis Deflowered. When I first heard about this book I was curious to say the least. Matthew had an interesting platform to work from, but I'll let him tell you about Genesis Deflowered. I hope you find it and him an interesting guest today and don't forget to check out the bottom of this post for a chance to win a free ebook from Matthew.

 Guest Post by Matthew Stillman.

“I am my beloved’s, and my beloved is mine”

“Wherever you go, I will go. Wherever you lay your head I’ll lay mine. Your people will be my people. Your God shall be my God..”

“Love is patient, love is kind...it does not rejoice with wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends.”

“Set me as seal upon your heart, as a seal upon your arm, for love is a strong as death...Many waters cannot quench love, neither floods can drown it.”

Go to any wedding in the Western world and there is a decent chance that one of those quotes from the Bible will be read. And rightfully so, these quotes from Ruth, Song of Songs and Corinthians are equally poetic and profound.

It is great that our religious tradition can speak of love so beautifully. Why can't it speak of sex with equal passion and beauty?

Aren’t we worse off for that?

Love is pure and beautiful...sex is dirty, perverted, sinful.

In my new novel “Genesis Deflowered” I took the classic King James Bible’s version of Genesis and turned it into a celebration of the unspoken (but deeply present) erotic aspect of the first book of the Bible. There are nearly 500 suggested erotic acts in Genesis but none of them are described. Beyond that not one of those acts is initiated by a woman. How can this be true?

I love the poetic beauty of the King James Bible and wanted to write about the erotic lives of Adam and Eve, Cain and Abel, Abraham and Sarah, Jacob and Rachel and the rest of the characters in Genesis, in a way that could make it seem like it it was always there...that the lusty aspects of ourselves was always present and not rejected, even “In the beginning”. And so I have written erotica that is not only about biblical characters but I have written in the chaste but poetic style of the King James Bible - Elizabethan English.

I always longed for a space where the spiritual and the sexual weren't at war, as they are in Western culture. I think I have started to build a place where that happens by retelling the seminal creation story in our culture.

Come take a look at how sexy and loving the Bible can be in my new and unusual erotic novel - Genesis Deflowered.

Book Excerpt

And Jacob said unto Laban, Give me my wife, for my days are fulfilled, that I may go in unto her. And Laban gathered together all the men of the place, and made a feast. And Jacob did wash the skins, and perfumed the tent, and made all new within it. And he bedecked the bed with blossoming vines from Lebanon, and gathered wine in jars at his sides. And he plucked the harp and sang a song unto his love Rachel. And his song did call her to his bed to sup the final meal with him and come to know the garden at once. And it came to pass in the dark evening, that Laban took Leah his daughter, and brought her to Jacob. And that night that was made made for loving between Rachel and Jacob was not to be, though Leah loved Jacob with all her might. And Leah saw the wine, and the vine. She heard the song, and took of the scented oils; and, yea, her heart opened unto Jacob. And Jacob went in unto Leah. And Laban gave unto his daughter Leah Zilpah his maid for an handmaid. And she stood in wait outside the door of the tent. Yet the day came too soon for Jacob: for his dearly earned pearl was revealed to be but lowly stone. And it came to pass, that in the morning, behold, it was Leah: and he said to Laban, What is this thou hast done unto me? Did not I serve with thee for Rachel? Wherefore then hast thou beguiled me? And Laban said, It must not be so done in our country, to give the younger before the firstborn. Fulfil her marriage celebration week, and we will give thee this also for the service which thou shalt serve with me yet seven other years. And Jacob did so, and fulfilled the week of Leah: and Laban gave him Rachel his daughter to wife also. And Laban gave to Rachel his daughter Bilhah his handmaid to be her maid. And Jacob went in also unto Rachel, and he loved Rachel more than Leah, and served with Laban yet seven other years after the first seven.

Where many see the Bible as the pathway to Heaven, others say it should be covered in a brown paper bag because it is so, so filthy.

There are hundreds of sex acts implied in the first book of the bible (and sadly none initiated by a woman). How has nobody ever described how each of them would have played out in biblical language?

If the writers and translators of the Bible had been a little less prudish we might have an entirely different relationship between sex and religion than we have now. In Genesis there is sex before marriage, threesomes, incest, group sex, kinky fetish cuckolding, gay sex and more.

Isn't it time that you read the Bible for the dirty parts?

Using the seminal King James Bible in its Elizabethan English as spring board,"Genesis Deflowered" makes the beginning of the Bible come out as a sexy, readable and fun erotic novel.

"Genesis Deflowered ": equal parts holy scripture and blaspheming scandal
