Riding Rodeo, by Emma Lai

The bell over the door tinkled as a new customer entered the bakery. When she glanced over the shoulder of her current customer, elderly Mrs. Thompson, Amanda Goodson’s breath caught. Bright afternoon sunshine from a beautiful late-spring day entered the storefront window and cast a delicious glow over the tastiest man Amanda had ever laid eyes on. A navy blue T-shirt clung to broad shoulders, a muscled chest, and six-pack abs. Brawny thighs strained the denim of a pair of faded jeans, and she knew from a previous encounter that the material hugged a firm ass.

She licked her lips. The rodeo was back in town.

When their gazes locked, Sean Cassidy winked. Thanks to the shirt, his eyes were more blue than gray, almost as blue as the clear sky over Houston today. He strode toward the counter with a slow rolling of hips, his cowboy boots―polished to a high sheen―clomping against the slate floor with each step. The rhythmic tattoo of his sexy walk called to mind their one headboard-banging-against-the-wall, marathon ride.

Thud. Thud. Thud.

She wasn’t sure if it was her heartbeat or echoes of her memory. Sweat moistened her palms, but it wasn’t sweat tickling the insides of her thighs. Damn the man. He could still make her cream her panties even though their one-night stand happened more than a year ago.

One year, six months, and some change, but who was counting?

Burned, by Amber Kallyn

The Other was here.

Lowering the truck window, Calla Dragos sniffed the chilly afternoon. Pine trees, asphalt. All overshadowed by the distinct stench of sulfur. Her stomach lurched, vileness rising to choke her. As she drove into the blink of a town, it grew stronger, overpowering all other senses.

Drawing closer to the Jasper Fire Department, she focused on keeping her clammy hands on the wheel, her concentration on the light traffic. Keeping her foot on the gas pedal, rather than slamming the brakes and fleeing.

How could he be here?

It was bad enough her job as an arson investigator brought her to this small, mountaintop town of Jasper, Arizona. Bad enough she’d left her family behind in the midst of yet another argument about her independence. The possibility of facing Eric brought tremors to her body.

Parking her cherry red pickup in front of the station, Calla shaded her eyes from the late afternoon sun and searched the colorful wood-front buildings. The stench faded.

Eric marked her, then fled. Like a coward. And he was a coward. She needed to remember that fact. Otherwise, the fear coiling in her heart would drive her batty.

After a couple deep breaths, she calmed the nausea a little. She could do this. She would do this. And if that bastard decided to show up, she’d face him with all her strength.

Calla stepped from the truck on shaky legs, smoothed her navy skirt and slipped on the matching jacket. Reaching across the seat, she grabbed her oversized black bag, which held a notebook, pens and her kit. After another soothing breath, filling her lungs with the crisp mountain air, she headed around the corner to the firemen’s entrance.

Giggles drew her attention to a group of barely-eighteen girls, scantily dressed. And the man they huddled near.

In nothing but low-slung jeans, the top button carelessly undone, the man gave off the rugged air of a male underwear model with a sexy, take me to your bedroom now look. His blond hair, slightly too long for a clean-cut look, dripped water, from a recent shower maybe. Or a drenching with the hose. The scruff on his chin, a shade darker than his hair, enhanced the bad boy aura.

Release Day Celebrations- Switching Mercedes (Wylde Shore 3)

It's release day for Switching Mercedes. *Performs a happy dance around the room*
The ebook is exclusive to Bookstrand for the next few weeks (all ebook formats are available for purchase there), and will go on sale at other sellers such as Amazon, Barnes and Noble, etc. in the next few weeks.

Take a peek below for the blurb and two excerpts from the book.

How can two Dominant men and a Mistress have a successful BDSM relationship? It’s quite easy, providing one of them decides to submit.

Zane Reynolds believes he’s found the perfect submissive for his brother and he but there’s a problem. Mistress Mercedes doesn't want to submit to anyone. Zane hopes a bet will solve that issue, along with providing the key to finally win, not only Mercedes submission, but also her heart.

Ash knows he isn't a good man for any woman to fall in love with. He’s a paid mercenary, disillusioned with life and his ability to fit into the civilized world. Zane insists he’s found the perfect woman for them to share, the problem is, Mercedes has no idea Ash exists.

Mercedes has more to worry about than a wager where she plays submissive to Zane for a week. She’s just become a serial killer’s new target and met the man assigned to protect her, Zane’s twin, Ash Reynolds. Ash appears as interested in her submission as Zane, but Mercedes isn't looking to be shared.

Excerpt 1 - Switching Mercedes by Jan Graham

Her thoughts were interrupted by a commotion taking place on the far side of the taped-off area of the house. The yellow tape began to flap in the breeze, and officers tried to block access to the scene as a Hercules of Scandinavian appearance barreled his way through their defenses. Mercedes smiled when she heard her name.
“Where is she? Mercedes Harris-Shore, I demand to see her now.” His command boomed out for all to hear in a deep baritone that sent an erotic chill down her spine.
“Do you know him? Should I lock the ambulance doors or tell him you’re over here? He seems really…terrifying. Is he your boyfriend or something?”
She nearly lost track of the young ambulance officer’s rapidly fired questions, too intrigued by the circus unfolding before them.
“Yes, he’s something alright.” Mercedes nearly laughed at the terrified look on the medic’s face. “Oh, and don’t worry, we’re not in any danger.”
Zane reminded her of a Viking. Tall with the broadest shoulders of any man she knew. She watched as muscles rippled beneath the tight black T-shirt he wore, as he swatted uniformed officers away like they were flies. His shoulder-length blond hair, usually neatly combed, swung freely around his face, his strong, square jaw set firm with dogged determination as he worked his way to the front steps of the house, attempting to get inside.
“Would you like me to tell him you’re over here?” the medic asked, an edge of concern in his tone as they watched Zane grab an officer from the front line of defense, lifting him off his feet with ease.
“Where. Is. She?” The larger-than-average uniformed officer hung in the air like a rag doll at the mercy of a petulant toddler.
“No, he’ll find me soon enough, he always does.” Mercedes watched the action with delight. Not only was he divine to look at, but he knew how to make her laugh. Even when he was being an infuriating jerk she found him amusing. If he’d just stop being so dominantly determined she’d be his submissive then he’d be the perfect man for her. After all, what woman wouldn’t want a sexy bad-boy-Viking to come to her rescue? It was certainly better than any puny Prince Charming or a clunky knight in shining armor.
“Put that officer down, Zane Reynolds, before one of my guys shoots you.” Christian’s voice matched Zane’s for volume as he stepped through the doorway and onto the veranda.
“Excellent, Christian Shore, just the man to give me the answers I need.” Zane dropped the young policeman before walking toward her brother. “Where is Mercedes?”
“Once you’ve assured yourself my sister is fine I want you back over here explaining exactly how you found out she was here.” Christian spoke in his don’t-fuck-with-me tone as he pointed toward the ambulance.
It didn’t appear Zane even heard what her brother said because the moment their gazes met Zane stalked toward her, a deep frown creasing his normally relaxed brow.
“Why are you in an ambulance—are you injured?” The ambulance dipped under his weight as he climbed in beside her, meticulously eyeing her for injuries.
“I’m fine. I got upset when I found out what happened to Samantha, so Christian suggested I sit with the medic.” She glared over at the young medic hoping he read the tell-this-guy-nothing look she flashed him. The last thing she needed was for Zane to discover she’d fainted. She maintained a case of show no weakness in relation to Zane, and Mercedes wanted to keep it that way.
In less time than it took to blink, Mercedes found herself perched on Zane’s lap, pressed firmly against his hard chest, his strong arms wrapped around her like a protective shield. Her body warmed instantly, unaware she’d been cold. Frazzled nerves calmed as she rested her head against his chest listening to the steady rhythm of his heart. She wanted to wrap her arms around him in return, resting in the cocoon of safety he’d covered her in, but that wasn’t how they rolled and she knew it.
“Of course you were upset. Anyone would be under these circumstances.” His rich, smooth voice and understanding words soothed her weary nerves.
How did he know she needed him, that she wanted to be held and comforted after all she’d witnessed today? How did he always know when to show up, cheering her day, offering support, or annoying the shit out of her then making her laugh? More importantly, why did she always push him away? Her fingers rested on the leather belt at his waist. All she had to do was put her arms around him, accepting the embrace. Then he blew it, like he always did.

Excerpt 2 - Switching Mercedes by Jan Graham

God she was adorable. He felt like he was a schoolboy being given a good dressing down by an angry principal. If he was any way inclined to that sort of thing he’d be hard as a rock by now. No wonder she was considered the best professional Mistress in the city. Instead he grew hard for other reasons. The black leather dress she wore fit her like a glove with the zip front pushing her breasts together and up to show the most alluring cleavage, like two soft pillow tops he wanted to bury his face in then bite just for the pleasure of hearing her moan. Her thigh high boots allowed for only the smallest peek of sheer nylon-covered flesh between boot top and dress hem. He wanted to raise the hemline and see what lay beneath.
She appeared to be on a roll, although he’d given up listening to the barrage of insults she fired at his brother. If he was Zane, which of course he wasn’t, he’d wait for her to calm herself, get the fact he’d annoyed her off her chest, and then proceed. But he wasn’t Zane, and the one inherent difference between the two of them was his brother was far more patient with women, especially when they were upset. Ash, on the other hand, knew exactly how to soothe this savage beast.
He casually butted out the cigar on the wall, pocketing the extinguished two-thirds. After all, with trade embargos, Cubans were hard to come by unless one visited the country, and he wouldn’t be back there for the foreseeable future. He expected his target to step back when he pushed away from the wall and stood upright, but she didn't. Too busy explaining how she was happy with a casual sex arrangement and that was all a Neanderthal like Zane could ever hope for. Too bad he wasn’t his brother. He’d probably reconsider what he was about to do.
With lightening speed he reached out his arm and circled her waist, pulling her toward him. A quick one-eighty-degree spin had her in the shadows, back to the wall, surrounded by his larger frame.
“Enough.” He covered her mouth with his in their second, long overdue kiss, swallowing her fury and any objections she may have been about to voice. She responded with a seductive moan as their tongues entwined. He had her, and this time he wouldn’t let her go until she screamed his name. Well, his brother’s name actually. Damn it, he should just tell her.
All notions of confession were blown away when she looped her arms around the back of his neck and pulled herself up onto his body, her legs circling his waist. He clasped the globes of her ass in both hands and assisted in repositioning her, standing taller and wedging her more tightly between the brickwork and his body. He moved his hands in turn, repositioning them under the leather of her dress, dragging it up as he cupped the bare flesh of her ass cheeks. She was either commando or wearing a G-string. Knowing the latter more likely to be true, he slid his fingers to the crease of her ass until he found a thread of material. Following the thin trail of lace to the wetness between her legs, he moved the lace aside, allowing his fingers to delve between her lips before sliding effortlessly inside her… one…two…three.
As the third long digit pushed inside, Mercedes broke the kiss, exhaling a breathless moan of pleasure, her cunt tightening around his fingers.
“Fuck my fingers and come for me, baby.” He’d prefer to have her come on his cock, but he refused to be caught with his pants down if Bethany chose to show up for their meeting.
“Not here, please, Zane.” Despite the request for a change of venue, Mercedes thrust downward. Ash extended his thumb to rub over her clit, resulting in another mewling of delight from his now totally aroused and compliant little hellcat as she rode his fingers, driving them deep inside.
“No one can see you, baby, I’ve got you covered.” Sweet pussy juice spread over his hand as her cunt began to pulse around him in a flurry of release. She pulled his hair and buried her face against his chest, muffling the passionate cry as she came. “Again.”
This time he did the maneuvering of his fingers, thrusting them deep and fast within her, quickly bringing her to another climax.
“Please no more, not here. You know I don’t like public displays.” Mercedes cupped his face between her hands and rested her forehead against his. “I need you buried deep inside me, your skin against mine, but not here.”
Not here, great.
“Your place or mine?” It was obvious Beth was a no-show, so leaving the area didn’t matter. He’d contact her later.
“Neither.” She lowered her legs and pushed away from him, straightening her hem as she headed straight for the staff entry door. “The perfect place is right inside. You have a lock on your office door so we won’t be disturbed.”
Fuck, no. She was inside the club before he could stop her. Zane was working tonight, which meant he needed to stay the hell out of there, but instead he followed, hoping to drag her back into his arms and change her mind before anyone found out Zane Reynolds had a doppelganger.

Well, now it's time to heat up the pages of their own book, a romance that includes an interesting and sexy addition to the family, named Ash. Special Guest Author - Raven McAllan

Today we have a very special guest on the blog, Raven McAllan. Raven's book, Master was released on the 5th June and I've invited her here today to tell us a little bit about the book and how she came to write it. Take it away Raven :)

Hi all, I'm somewhat excited about the release of Master. It's a book that had very definite idea on how it was going to go. Seriously I wasn't sure at times if I could write their story, and do it justice. Anna and Caden's route to happiness isn't at all straight, or easy.
I get so involved with my characters, and boy do I feel their angst. These two have more than most. Caden is a Dominant, Anna, is a sub…or is she? As they try to sort out their lives and their relationship—if they even have one—was a roller-coaster of a ride. I only hope I've done it justice.
What I will say, is I suspect you'll love or hate their story, that it may touch a nerve at times, and you might wish it hadn't. You might even cry. I love it (well it'd be awful if I didn't, after all they let me write it), and it did strike a chord, several chords in fact. And yes I did cry whilst I was typing. There was one bit I had to check over and over for typo's, as I'd typed with teary eyes.
But as it's a romance, well there's got to be a HEA, or HFN…or does there? Well you'll have to read Master to find out…
Master is available now from www.evernightpublishing.com, and will also be available from Amazon, Allromance eBooks and Bookstrand.
If you're like me, you like to be nosy…and why not eh? So how about the blurb and a tease? Just to get you started.

Master by Raven McAllan

The blurb...
Cade and Anna are both caught in the same nightmare...
When Anna ran from Cade fifteen years ago, his pride stopped him from going after her, but he had never forgotten his wife and sub.
When he finds her again at a BDSM club in Glasgow, he is determined to get answers.
Anna ran from Cade, convinced she cannot be the sub he needs. Plagued by nightmares her only way to cope is to reject her need to submit.
When she is forced to confront her fears, can Cade and Anna find common ground, or is the nightmare simply going to continue?

An excerpt…
She stopped speaking again. Bloody hell, we'll be here for a week come Tuesday if she doesn't get a move on. Cade held his tongue. He'd wait for a while.
"Um, okay, I've done a lot of thinking. And I know now, that it wasn't everything we did that I hated. In fact, quite a lot made me more than hot and bothered." She giggled, and Cade saw the younger woman she'd been, before she sobered suddenly. "And a lot made me feel sick. It's sorting out which is which that's difficult. Will you help me?"
She stared at him, and his body tensed as if he was waiting for a blow. That was stupid. It was Di … no, Anna, for goodness sake.
"Anna, love, I'd be proud to. Tell me what you need, what you want, and how I can serve."
His choice of words made her giggle—or something did. Yeah, that'll be the day. "Okay, I need to try to see what I can do. No worse than that. Oh hell, Cade, I need to see what would satisfy you. Therefore." She took a deep breath, and Cade watched as perspiration dotted her brow. "Um, I want … will you do things?"
How the hell could he answer that? "What sort of things, love?"
Anna nibbled her nail. Cade forced himself not to grab her hands and demand she stop. This had to be her show.
"Well." She tucked her head to one side, something he remembered her doing when she was deep in thought. "Will you handcuff me and make me come?" she asked in a hurry, her words tumbling over each other. "I bloody loved that."
He waited to see if she would say anything else. She didn't, so it was all up to him.
"If I do that for you, what else?"
She stared at him like a rabbit caught in a trap. "How do you mean?"
"If I handcuff you, how do you want me to make you come?"
It was obvious she hadn’t thought that far. Anna stared at him and licked her lips. "I don't understand. I mean you'll make me come."
Cade closed his eyes so she wouldn't see his frustration. "Oh I understand that. But in what way? Tied?  Over a bench, blindfolded? Making you fuck yourself? You need to be more explicit, Anna. I don't know at which point the 'I loved it' became the 'I hated it'. If I'm to help you here, I need a little bit of direction."
Anna looked startled. "But you're the Dom. Don't you tell me?"
Oh shit.
"If I do, love, we might not get any further. What I want could perhaps be three steps too far. So you tell me. Do I shackle your handcuffs? What do you want?" He paused took out a bottle of water from his desk drawer and had a swig of water.  "This time, let's assume there's no Dom and no sub and only a beautiful lady asking her man to play." Would she go for that?
Anna wandered around the room, not really looking at anything, but he could sense her mind whirling. Then she stopped dead, swiveled, and walked to stand in front of him.
"If I cry ‘red’?" she demanded. "What then?"
"Then we stop. I'm past trying to persuade you. What I want here is secondary, I reckon. You know what I want. We need to work out what I need." Who the hell knew if that chasm could be breached? It seemed as unlikely as snow in the Sahara. Cade stopped talking. "It's up to you, love. We need to see what you want to give as well. I'm happy to follow your lead for now. But we both know, for me to meekly sit back and watch as you destroy anything we might have is so not going to happen. I want to fill you, bind you to me with more than physical ties, and hear you cry out for me. Can you cope with that?"
He watched her go through the colors of the rainbow on her skin, and swallowed. Hell’s bells, she does that a lot, and it sends my body to high alert. Promises, promises.
"Can you, love?" He pressed her for an answer, because he had to know. His skin was so tight that he thought if she touched it she'd bounce.
God almighty, even the air held its breath. It was getting to be a habit.
Slowly, Anna nodded. "I need to try. Hell, Cade, I love you, and I want you. Whether that's enough, who knows? But really, honestly, I want to try. So can we?"
His heart swelled, and he wanted to punch the air. Yes!
"I reckon so, love. I reckon so. Now, if I say assume the position, just for me, can you? Will you?"
Ana smiled, the enticing smile of a siren home from the sea. With a graceful movement, she knelt in front of him, put her hands behind her back and dipped her head.
"Oh, I reckon…" The muscles in her neck moved convulsively. "Well, I reckon. Yes, Sir."
Cade thought all his birthdays had come at once. Surely, surely this was a good start. He hardly dared look at Anna in case he saw desperation or negativity on her face.
Come on, act the part. Look and help her, that's your remit. You're a bloody Master, for goodness’ sake, so be one. Cade gave himself a minute to collect his thoughts before he turned to the woman who kneeled in front of him. As he watched, a faint tremor shuddered through her. So she wasn't really comfortable. That little movement made him stiffen his resolve. He would push and prod, and see if they could come up with a compromise.

 About Raven...
Raven lives in Scotland, along with her husband and their two cats—their children having flown the nest—surrounded by beautiful scenery, which inspires a lot of the settings in her books.
She is used to sharing her life with the occasional deer, red squirrel, and lost tourist, to say nothing of the scourge of Scotland—the midge.
A lover of reading, she appreciates the history inside a book, and the chance to peek into the lives of those from years ago. Raven admits that she enjoys the research for her books almost as much as the writing; so much so, that sometimes she realizes she's strayed way past the information she needs to know, and not a paragraph has been added to her WIP.
Her lovely long-suffering husband is learning to love the dust bunnies, work the Aga, and be on stand-by with a glass of wine.

You can find out more about Raven here…

Thanks for being here today and sharing a little bit about Master, Raven. It certainly looks like a great read and I wish you all the best for it's success.

Author Hot Seat Welcomes Cassidy Browning

The author hot seat specials are designed to help readers get to know some of today’s popular and up and coming authors a little better. The questions are broken into four sections - About your writing, about you, fun stuff and finally. Some of the questions are easy, other may need a little more thought and some may cause our author friends to hesitate before answering. Still, they all answer.

Today we have Cassidy Browning sitting in the Hot Seat. Cassidy is a fellow Siren author and her third book with them, Double Dom Fantasies released on February 13th this year. So it's hot off the presses, so to speak. More information about the book can be found at the end of Cassidy's interview but first, lets see if we can make her squirm a little.

About your writing:

How did you get started as a writer?
When Reggie Alexander and I started our power exchange (Master/slave) relationship, we looked for practical ways to put it in practice. He found out one of my lifelong goals was to be a published author and started giving me assignments and goals. The first book took a year and a half, but turned out to be a wonderful self-development tool!

Why do you write?
Because Reggie tells me to. J Seriously, because we are passionate about increasing public awareness and acceptance of alternative lifestyles, so we portray them as realistically as we can.

Have you ever had a day you wanted to quit and never write again?
I don’t think so. There are of course days when it’s more difficult than other days. Then I agree with whoever said “I hate writing, but I love having written.”

Do you feel lucky to be doing what you are doing?
Absolutely!! Losing my last job was the best thing that ever happened to me! We've published four books in the last year. I know I would never have gotten that done while working full time!

Tell me how you got to where you are today?
It was a long, circuitous route, filled with mistakes and stupid decisions. But I’m very happy to be where I am.

How do your family/spouses react to your work as an author? Do they know what you write?
Reggie’s family has read the first book, at least. When I told my mother (over the phone) that I had written a book about alternative relationships, there was a short pause, and then she said “So how’s your weather out there?” So, no – my family would be horrified if I showed them the books!

About you:

What are you passionate about in life?
Writing, motorcycles, chainmail, Great Danes, personal growth, smoked Gouda, and pizza. Oh, and chocolate.

If you had to give a thank-you speech at the Oscars, who would you thank and what would you say?
I would mostly thank Reggie Alexander, my Master and writing partner. Everybody needs someone like Reggie standing behind them ready to give them a swift kick in the ass when they slow down!

What are the three most important life lessons you've learned that might make life easier for others?
1 – Don’t believe everything you think.
2 – If you decide to be happy, it doesn't really matter what’s going on around you. It’s still your choice.
3 – Let go of everything. You can choose what you give your energy to. Nobody can piss you off without your consent.

If you could trade places with any other person for a week, famous or not famous, living or dead, real or fictional. Whom would it be and why?
I don’t think I’d want to trade places with a dead person. J At the moment, it would probably be a movie producer so I could get some of my novels in front of people who make movies!

What's the worst thing you did as a kid?
Went door to door inviting people to church.

What do you do to have fun?
Disc golf, motorcycles, travelling to fetish events to sell chainmail jewelry. And of course sitting on the couch every night making chainmail jewelry to sell. That makes it all worthwhile.

Share a funny incident in your life.
At the first romance convention we went to (RomCon in Denver), Reggie (being one of only two men present) was dragged to the front of the room to act out a sex scene (with the very cooperative Delilah Marvelle) being read by DJ Westerfield. I’m not sure when I’ve laughed so hard, especially when Delilah’s husband called in the middle of it to see what she was up to.

Fun Stuff:

If Hollywood made a movie about your life, who would you like to see play the lead role as you?
Emma Stone. She’s so beautiful but seems totally approachable and like she has a great sense of humor. I have no idea if she does, but she certainly comes across that way.

If you were a type of food, what type of food would you be?
Chili pizza. (You make a regular pizza, but instead of tomato sauce you use Armour Chili. Try it – it’s really good!)

What is your favorite color- food- song- movie?
Purple, pizza, “Hallelujah” by Leonard Cohen, and “A Fish Called Wanda.”

What's the funniest pick up line ever used on you?
You know, I can’t recall any pickup lines being used on me. I don’t hang out in bars and I guess I’m not really the “pickup” type.

What's the one thing you can't live without?
Cheese.

And finally:

You are driving along in your car on a wild, stormy night, it's raining heavily, when suddenly you pass by a bus stop, and you see three people waiting for a bus:
-An old lady who looks as if she is about to die.
-An old friend who once saved your life.
-The perfect partner you have been dreaming about.
You can only fit one person in your car, who would you choose to offer a ride to?

It would kill me, but probably the old lady. But after I kicked her out of the car at her destination, I’d go back to see if the other two were still there! (Although they’d probably have hooked up by then.)

Thanks Cassidy (aka Kasi and Reggie) I love that you guys are working on presenting a realistic view of BDSM and alternate lifestyles in your writing. It's been great having you here.

Double Dom Fantasies:

Reeling from the loss of her boyfriend, job, and self-respect, Sami Peters is shocked to find herself at the inaugural BDSM Boot Camp at Clifftop Fantasies. If that isn’t enough, she’s partnered with not one but two semipro football players, known as AJ and Crash.
AJ is pining over his ex, and the normally happy-go-lucky Crash is distressed by the amount of vegetables in the cooking at Clifftop. Sami finds herself taking classes with these two in rope bondage, needle play, and scene negotiation, among other alarming topics.
On top of everything else, Sami’s best friend Carly and most of the Grandpointe leather community are under attack by a moral crusader. Can Sami, AJ, and Crash save the community and themselves by exploring this new lifestyle together? Should she submit to the guys as they learn to be Doms, or are they just out slumming?
